Bal du musee d'art contemporain Montreal

This is a photo of the setup of this year's Bal du Musee d'Art Contemporain.  I thought it was an interesting idea to integrate swings to the decor, giving the space a very circus feel to it.

Fashion Show colors

I find these color's would fit in very well with our color pallet. We need some what of a punch in our collection and i feel that purple and blue will do nicely. It falls into the "FALL/WINTER 2011" and it has similar color's to the movie we are getting our inspiration from.

Fashion Show Colors

I was going through Chloe's new spring summer 2012 collection and I came accross this picture in their lookbook. I though the colors of the gold and the pink/redness of the bag was such a great combination and great colors that we can work our show around.

"Lemonade" by Cocorosie

This is a song I thought fitted the feel of our event.  It's by Cocorosie, two sisters who are always pushing boundaries and have creepy voices.

Circus Theme extra post

CandyQueens : inspiration Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry

i got this theme idea from the movie when the little kid in the beginning goes through the mirror by mistake and we see a candy land and i realized it could possibly be a really cool theme. The great Nicki Minaj was also very helpful for ideas as she really likes candy, as well as misses Katy Perry. The candy land picture is an idea of a curvy runway leading to the castle and i imagined a decor made of candy inspired elements. anyways it was an idea, i think this theme can be very entertaining, enlightening and charming!

ideas for fashion show

California based artist Tom Banwell creates amazing masks out of leather.Stylish masks handmade of vegetable tanned leather are shaped while wet to fit a face and then painted with an appropriate color.
Since we discussed masks while coming up with a concept for our show I thought finding a different style of mask would be unique. What i really like about these two images is that not only are the shapes unique but you can still see the gorgeous make-up. I thought this would be interesting because we could still play with the eyes to get the look we want even behind a mask. I also think the color selection goes well with what we've discussed because we have the circus theme and then the dark theme.

TURBANS!

I was really inspired by the fortune teller door and the tarot cards in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". I also quite fond of the nostalgic look that turbans gave considering my grandmother lived in Hungary and Belgium and most pictures contained that gypsy like atmosphere.  I feel that some models for our show can be accessorized with turbans and such.

This is a mask I found at the dollorama! It was two dollars (don't ask me how that works haha) but I thought this could be a cheap great prop for our show if maybe we painted them or decorated them!

These are braids worn at Alexander Wang's show, These remind me of Lily Coles messy braid during the movie!

Type of Mask

This mask can give us an idea on what else we can do. It looks like those doctor masks patients, nurses and doctors wear in hospitals, but can also be created differently in a fashion way. We can find different inspirations of masks by the things that surround us everyday.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

I love how Johnny Depp is wearing a big mask around his neck in this scene. It evokes a circusy feel. I also thought we could always exchange the mask with a huge bow tie; it's also related to circus. I as well enjoy the checkered effect in the background; we could use this for our runway.
